November 3, 2005 Podcast

On today’s show we have an exciting new feature by Hudson Valley voice over artist Carola Kittredge. Carola will be contributing literary history segments of the great, historic Hudson Valley estates. In the future, when possible, these will be accompanied by a photo essay on virtualhudsonvalley.com.

We gave Leslie the week off this week, but you will still be able to find her Garden Report on her blog this Friday (link below). We also have Alex Tuller cooking up a persimmon pudding. Now, I realize this is not local, but it is persimmon season were Alex is from (California) so we are granting her this little import.

Dean Temple reads selections from an article by Theodore Gordon, considered by many to be the father of modern, American fly fishing. Gordon was an avid fan of fishing the Catskill streams, and although the season has ended for the year, it’s fun to read these pieces just to see how little has changed in the past 100 years. This article is taken from the March 19, 1904 edition of Forest and Stream magazine.

And, of course, we have the Hudson Valley events calendar. Ilana Papelle is busy running for Town Council (the election is Tuesday), so she also has the week off. Thanks to the Dutchess County Arts Council for their contributions.

One last note, Dean will be speaking at forum at the Cunneen Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie on November 10, sponsored by the Dutchess County Arts Council and the Poughkeepsie Chamber of Commerce. The topic is marketing and new media (including podcasts). Drop by if you can.
